I am checking because the PO is/was a tool. In every sense. He was running the car badly but the interior and body are in mint condition. I'm checking it to make sure everything is ok. I've had a few problems because of some things he has done. He was driving the car with the #6 coil plugged in. He had the boost solenoids unplugged, the boost controller configured incorrectly, he was driving with a MASSIVE vacuum leak in the clutch booster, he apparently never cleaned or maintained the engine or electrical. The throttle bodies were dirtier than a New Orleans whore's pillow-talk and the TPS/FICD/IAA/ etc etc were more mis-adjusted than Geoffrey Dahmer. The scope of work I have done in the last month or so has been astronomical considering I hadnt even heard of the car before I found it. I am pretty auto mechanically inclined though. lol Seriously though, I wouldn't be surprised if I opened up the timing covers for the 100K service that he never did and found a rubber band instead of a belt.... Another thing, Soon after I bought it, the upper radiator connector exploded. yep. GUSH! Drained all the coolant. I replaced the radiator, thermostat, and refilled the coolant after multiple flushes. I burped it twice on a very very steep hill but the temperature sits just above half at idle only. It goes down when driving. The fan clutch seems fine but I'm thinking maybe the fins of the water pump may be corroded? I think it is the STOCK 20 year old pump!!! I'm hoping to be able to afford the 100K sometime soon but I can't right now and I'm not sure what to do... Recommendations appreciated!
